Applications Now Accepted to Fill City Council Vacancies
Applications are now being accepted to fill two (2) City Council vacancies due to the recent resignations of Council Members Roger Bacon and Dan Atkins. The term for both seats will expire in November 2018. The two individuals who receive the appointments will need to run for election during the November 2018 election if they wish to continue to serve on the Council.
The deadline to submit an application is Friday, November 17th, 2017 at 4:30pm. Applications can be picked up and submitted with the City Clerk’s Office at Vassar City Hall, 287 E Huron Avenue. Applications are also available below. Applications can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Depending on the number of applications received members of the Vassar City Council will either interview applicants Monday November 27th at 5:30 PM or December 4th, 2017, at 5:30 pm. Appointment will be made at the December 4th Council Meeting.
To be eligible, a candidate must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age by December 4th, 2017, a resident of the City of Vassar for at least 2 years, and not be in default to the City. City Council Members receive a nominal stipend for service.
City Council Members are expected to attend City Council meetings, regularly scheduled on the first Monday of every month, starting at 7:00 pm. Special Meetings are also necessary. Meetings are held in the Council Chamber at the Vassar City Hall, at 287 E Huron Ave, Vassar, MI 48768.
