Applications Now Accepted to Fill City Council Vacancies
Applications are now being accepted to fill one (1) City of Vassar City Council vacancy. The term for the seat will expire in November 2020. The individual who receives the appointment will need to run for election during the November 2020 election if they wish to continue to serve on the Council.
The deadline to submit an application is Wednesday, November 21st, 2018 at 4:30pm. Applications can be picked up and submitted with the City Clerk’s Office at Vassar City Hall, 287 E Huron Avenue. Applications can also be emailed to email@example.com. Depending on the number of applications received members of the Vassar City Council will either interview applicants the evening of November 28th, 29th, 30th or December 3rd. Appointment will be made at the December 3rd Council Meeting.
To be eligible, a candidate must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age by December 3rd 2018, a resident of the City of Vassar for at least 2 years, and not be in default to the City. City Council Members receive a nominal stipend for service.
City Council Members are expected to attend City Council meetings, regularly scheduled on the first Monday of every month, starting at 7:00 pm. Special Meetings are also necessary. Meetings are held in the Council Chamber at the Vassar City Hall, at 287 E Huron Ave, Vassar, MI 48768.
